Big Shots TV Show

Well guys since there nothing new about Big Shots, I just thought to have a look at the reasons behind the axing of one of our favorite shows. Well personally I feel that if the only reason behind the cancellation of a show is its poor ratings, then the producers need to get their heads checked!!! I mean, ratings do depend on a lot of things, an especially in this case, the ratings could have dropped because of the prolonged writer’s strike as well as the constant change in time slots and so many other things which can not be controlled. And I really feel that if the show had continued after the writers strike ended, it would have reached new heights of popularity. It had a lot of potential to grow both in terms of story as well as popularity. Bringing it to an abrupt end was a big mistake. I think the people at ABC are crazy to cancel a show that stood out of the league.

The show with a nice and captivating plot and adorable and talented actors left people craving for more. At the end of each episode people were left guessing as to what would happen next and this brought them closer to the characters. It not only made you laugh but also raised some serious questions that concern our society. Unlike other shows, people were interested in every character. In an era where every second show is female oriented, this was one of the very few male oriented shows. I along with most of my friends was quite upset with the cancellation of the show and would like to advice the people at ABC to bring back the show which can replace many dumb shows being aired right now.

Though the series has been called cancelled, this is not what the fans of the series wanted. If you listen to them, they still want the show back and they love it completely. They are of the view that the series was a break from all those women oriented shows and that it was good to see men in action. After all something that focuses on the psyche of men. Some have even gone ahead in calling it “desperate husbands”. Men like it as probably this could be the first one discussing their sex life. A fan has put it this way “Men. We are the new woman”. Well what more could be asked for???? The viewers, for whom the show was made, completely loved it and want more of it.

On the one hand the show was loved by its viewers and on the other hand it had to undergo the harsh comments of the critics. The critics were not all impressed with the series, and took it as a complete copy of a few already running shows. The show never received any positive comment from the critics. “People” magazine called the show one of several, “Sex and City” clones and the characters “entourage-wannabes”. USA today said “The problem with “Big Shots” is that the men don’t sound like anyone at all, male or female.”

he grass is always greener on the other side- heard the phrase????? How many of us actually think that ways- probably most of us. Always looking for what we don’t have in life. Doesn’t those big MNC’s, people holding good position, attract you, making you think that life would be so much easy for them!!! But is it actually like this, let’s have a look with the help of this TV series “Big Shots”. These high class people, their life style, Problems they have to face or probably they dig for themselves. What is life for them lets see from their own eyes…….

“Big shots” the title of the series, is basically a slang word used for very important or influential people. So, the series deals with the lives of four such very important people in their own fields, whose lives gets all messed up when a woman enters in their lives. Struggling hard to catch up with their lives, their personal lives become all the more important as compared to their professional lives.

Generally, the series have been compared to the hit series “Desperate housewives”. The only difference between the two that this was about the housewives and their all exciting, thrilling experiences. And this is about these high profile people, and their ways of balancing their professional and personal lives.

Well, the series is all about these four best friends, who are at the top position as far as their career is concerned, but are too dependent on one another, when it comes to sharing, discussing business, confiding secrets or seeking advices. They all enjoy all the benefits of holding a good position in society and engage themselves in leisure activities like sauna, pool, golf and the like. All goes well in their life, until the woman enters in their life…

James Walker, a committed husband. All his dreams of a good marriage come to an end, when he comes to face to reality. The discovery about the affair, between his wife and his dead boss, leaves him all shattered. Eventually filing in for a divorce and his taking refuge in his VP Katie.

Duncan Collinsworth, already divorced, but somehow the spark hasn’t ended yet. He plans to get back with his first wife. But things didn’t work the way he wanted. A rumor, which actually is his truth, could turn his life upside down.

Karl Mixworthy, a nervous CEO. Has a loving wife, but out of some reasons, had an affair, which he ended quickly. But his ex-mistress, who is a witty woman, enters his life again as his wife’s best friend. And on top of all, moves to his house, making things terrible for him.

Brody Johns, successful at work, but not in the eyes of his wife. Three of his friends look up to him whenever in trouble.

This is the story of “Big Shots”, almost all the characters have one or two sub plot, but the directors have made it a point to not mix their stories with each other.
